The idea of a new group creation was born from a series of short choreographic actions called “silent protests” created during the lockdown periods and dedicated to the concept of ‘the body of protest’. The desire is to go through a process in which the performers can abandon themselves to a mutually constructed space where they can expose their own vulnerable bodies. In this shared space the performers proceed together through a dance that emerges from a stream of consciousness activated in real time, in order to unleash and reveal new and retained tensions or questions, and to give movement and voice to postponed revolutions. Our days require a reflection on the sense of care, participation, listening and healing. Bodies are continuously restrained by cultural environments, they are territories colonized by control, violence, and offense; we are forced not to express our vulnerability, which remains not observed and uncelebrated. The intention is to create a ‘a collective body speech’ which is self-generating in the present, as a form of protest. Four bodies offer themselves to the community, with their exposed vulnerabilities and open wounds.
The shared practices will focus on listening to what one’s connective tissues asks to release in response to the information given by the in which the bodies are immersed. The performers will be invited to translate verbally and gesturally every thought, every desire, and impulse that will arise as a response. The choreographic device will emerge as an expansion of the somatic experience that the performers live in front of the audience, establishing an empathic relationship, opening to an immersive state. The identity of each individual body is revealed and decconstructed in realtime, through the encounter with others, showing how boundaries can surrender and cease defending. A mutual construction starts activating where the performers translate in real-time the choreographic score that is written on their body moment by moment, manifesting themselves as living bodies, moved by desire and supporting each others to build their own freeing, vulnerable and revolutionary dance.
