What is the price of entertainment at all costs? And how much is a performer willing to give in exchange for the love of the audience? With lightness, irony and a lot of imagination this work aims to explore what lies behind the glossy image of those who dance: hard work, power dynamics and limits imposed by advancing age and a weakening body. Andrea Costanzo Martini's artistic research explores the extreme physicality and theatricality of the performative act, analyzing the balance of power between dancers and spectators during a show, playing with the expectations linked to dance. Divided into three parts, the creation is inspired by the world of competition horses, observed in various moments of their lives. The horse as a loved and admired animal, but also caged and mistreated. Symbol of freedom, beauty and strength. Like a ballerina.
