Samia begins with the true story of Samia Yusuf Omar, the young Somali athlete who tragically died in the waters off Lampedusa while attempting to reach Europe to qualify for the Olympics. This powerful narrative sparks Bolognino's research, which is presented to the audience through six diverse bodies.

Without seeking to rewrite a life she didn't live, Bolognino aims to help remember Samia and all those, like her, who struggle daily in their own races and strive to choose who they want to become. This performance develops into a profound reflection on our own desires, the limitations the world imposes upon us, and the persistent attempt to push past them.
