A reinterpretation of  Ravel’s famous Bolero created by Masako Matsushita, who views it as synonymous with universal dance, a living, everchanging form, capturing its diversity right from its folk origins. Originating in Spain and enriched with new nuances in Latin America, it spread as dance music and folk dance, captivating every social class and bringing its rhythm from the streets to the theaters.
This multifaceted tradition also inspired Maurice Ravel, with his famous 1928 *Bolero* for the dancer Ida Rubinstein—a piece with a hypnotic structure based on a repetitive rhythm and a progressive crescendo that celebrates the transition from lively, spontaneous folk dance to the refined art of the grand theater halls.
In HORIZON KOINÉ Bolero, a broad collection and combination of choreographic elements explores new expressive territories through a contemporary language, while keeping its original spirit alive.
