After more than ten years of artistic partnership, one of the most original interpreters of Italian song and five great jazz musicians—Rita Marcotulli, Javier Girotto, Fabrizio Bosso, Furio di Castri, and Mattia Barbieri—reunite to tackle the poetic universe of Lucio Battisti. This is a reinterpretation of the most intimate, lyrical, and personal author of Italian popular music. Popular yet sophisticated, quintessentially Italian yet solitary, Battisti was a builder and inventor of songs that remain a deeply personal heritage for everyone, crossing different musical sensibilities and schools of thought. The arrangements by Javier Girotto and the theatrical genius of Peppe Servillo succeed in tracing a new, suggestive, and unexpected path through twenty of Battisti’s greatest songs. It is a journey rich in Latin flavors, enveloping rhythms, history, emotion, and profound pathos—breaking down the boundaries that separate the world of song from that of jazz and improvisation to lead the audience into an open territory: that of great music and the magic of sound.
