Zoé is the construction of a space in which a small community is brought back to the zero degree of life. A space for 'reflection' on the body and on existence which in its nakedness offers itself to the gaze. In this work the bodies become space, architecture and landscape in constant transformation. We observe a community that questions itself in the search for essential gestures by tracing its own path on a surrealistic island.

developed in the program Live Works no9 - Free School of Performance di Centrale Fies (Dro, Italia) in collaborazione con il Centro de residencias Matadero (Madrid, Spagna).

El Pacto del Olvido is a theatre monologue that investigates the historical silence about the civil war and the regime of Francisco Franco in Spain, its intergenerational transmission and its effects born after the dictatorship. How do we relate to the past? Who tells it, how does it tell, what language do we use to describe what happened? Through an autofiction narration, which combines personal experiences, testimonies and documents collected during the research, the performance supports the value of collecting different perspectives through memory and oral history, highlighting the margins of collective silence, questioning the "official" narratives ” of history and their transmission processes.

Reading of extracts from the novels published by Marsilio Editori edited by Leda Kreider
The author will be present.

Focus Contemporary German Dramaturgy

The focus involves the presentation of three unpublished texts in Italy by young playwrights, famous and award-winning for works in German. This first edition wants to promote a direct dialogue with a drama that is geographically close and which often, in a lucid way, talks about controversial issues of inclusion as natural movements of our own society.

The chosen authors are known in Italy for their prose (edit by Marsilio) and less known for their theatrical texts, maybe as a result of the pandemic that has almost frozen the usability of theaters in recent years, or perhaps simply because there are few opportunities to know a foreign dramaturgy.

And here is the aim of this review: to break down linguistic and geographical barriers with meetings organized by an international team and in which prodigious actresses, well-known to the audience of the Operaestate festival (and beyond), will show on the three following evenings the strength of the texts in the form of scenic readings.

Coproduction OE - National premiere

rewriting and translation of "La nuit juste avant les forêts" by Bernard-Marie Koltès
translation and adaptation Giuseppe Massa
with Dario Mangiaracina, Giuseppe Massa
music by Dario Mangiaracina

Night just before the forests is a text that gives vertigo, without punctuation, a syntactic waterfall that reminded Massa of the beat generation, bebop and pop music. Its universal themes emerge clearly: loss of identity, marginalization, absence of love. During the translation, therefore, Massa decides not to betray the author in the rhythm of the text, but to use the words and sayings collected from the darkest and abandoned streets of his city. A translation that tells how one can be foreign even in their own country, and how it is possible to die of loneliness in the era of social media.
